FSG Elementary In the News
Our students are making headlines, and we want to share all the great news with you. We will keep this page updated with important announcements, news stories, and student shout-outs. Please check back often, and help us celebrate our students’ many achievements.
On Thursday, February 28, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we invite you to the Community Education Center (CEC) in St. Mary's to celebrate Clifford's birthday. All families who live in Elk County with children between the ages of birth to currently enrolled kindergartners are welcome.
Clifford will make a special appearance around 10:00 a.m., noon, 3:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. Each child that attends will be able to explore the Children's Center and complete activities, crafts, and have a snack. It should only take about a half-hour to complete all activities. Stop by anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. For more information about this free family event, please call (814) 834.2602.
We kicked off our cookie dough sale fundraiser on Monday, February 4, for all students in grades K-5. The sale will run through Tuesday, February 19. All money and orders are due Tuesday, February 19. Please let the office know if you did not receive information about this fundraiser. Delivery will take place on Thursday, March 29, at parent/teacher conferences. This fundraiser benefits student participation in field trips as well as grade level specific activities throughout the year that enhance our students' learning experiences. Thank you in advance for your participation.
We have snow make up days coming up. Mark your calendars! School will be in session on Thursday, February 14, (day #2), Friday, February 15, (day #3), and again on Thursday, March 14, (day #4).
Yearbooks are now on sale! We recently sent home information regarding the 2018–2019 FSG Elementary School yearbook. Full-color yearbooks are available for purchase at the cost of $16 each. Parents can order yearbooks until March 1, 2019. Get yours today!
As we continue to move towards the time of our state assessments, students will continue to learn, practice, and apply the grade level skills expected of them. We will continue to ask families to help us by practicing math facts and reading each night. This support, even a few minutes each day, truly does make a difference! We know that we cannot effectively help our students alone. Our parents are our partners, and we need your help! Please be sure to avoid any vacation plans or other appointments that might keep students from school on these days. We appreciate your understanding!
Please mark your calendar for the PSSA testing dates.

As weather in our area can get quite bad rather quickly, it is very important for all families to establish their plans in the event of a school delay or cancellation. With the district’s implementation of the Global Connect system, alerts for weather-related cancellations and delays will go out using this technology. You can also find information about delays or cancellations through radio, TV, and on our district’s website.
Did you know that clipping box tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school? Each box top is worth $0.10 for our school. Just look for the pink box tops on hundreds of products! All you have to do is clip them and send them to school with your child. To add to the fun, FSG Elementary will be running a contest between the classrooms! The top two classrooms to turn in the most box tops will win a pizza party for their class. The collection window for the contest is December 1 through February 22. A collection sheet is coming home. Thank you for your support!
