FSG Elementary In the News
Our students are making headlines, and we want to share all the great news with you. We will keep this page updated with important announcements, news stories, and student shout-outs. Please check back often, and help us celebrate our students’ many achievements.
Our students will enjoy Halloween activities on Thursday, October 25. There will be a parade of costumes in the afternoon with additional activities following in the classroom. We would like to remind families that students may bring costumes to change into in the afternoon. Costumes must be elementary school friendly. We are looking forward to a spooky day!
With the weather starting to cool down, please take a moment to review our dress code in the student handbook. Although we allow students to wear shorts until November 1, please encourage your students to dress appropriately with regards to the weather. Please have them wear a coat or jacket on chilly mornings. Thank you for your cooperation.
Our Veteran's Day assembly is on Thursday, November 8 at 9:30 a.m. We ask any child who has a parent, sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc. who is currently serving or who has served in the armed forces to invite that special person to attend our event. Thank you for your support!
FSG Elementary School will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of October 22-26. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. To promote this great cause, we will be participating in the following special dress theme days:
- Monday, October 22 - Red Day - Redy to be drug free. Wear red to school.
- Tuesday, October 23 - Crazy Hat Day - Put a cap on drugs.
- Wednesday, October 24 - Neon Day - Our futures are bright without drugs!
- Thursday, October 25 - Costume Day - Drugs are scary, but wearing costumes is fun!
- Friday, October 26 - Team Up Against Drugs Day - Wear your favorite team (Elkers, Steelers, Penguins, etc.) shirt.
The PTO will sponsor a Halloween dance on Friday, October 26 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the elementary school. Please mark your calendars. Additional information will be coming home in the next few weeks.
FSG participates in the collection of box tops to raise additional funds for our school. Please collect and turn into your child’s homeroom teacher. We appreciate your help and support!
FSG Elementary School will have spirit weeks with theme days! Themes include colors of hope days, pink days, additional theme days, and red ribbon week throughout the year! We participate in theme days to foster pride and to add an extra level of excitement within our building. Participation in these special days are voluntary. If your child does not have clothes that fit the theme day and are unable to borrow any, please do not buy them. We would never want to put our families in a position to have to purchase additional clothing items for a them day.
